US journalist targets CM Sindh’s adviser Murtaza Wahab by sharing his personal picture

A war of words between US blogger Cynthia D Ritchie and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders on Twitter go relentless and now getting more personal.

Cynthia, who stirred hornet’s nest among the PPP ranks after making a controversial comment on late party leader and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, and what ensued was strong reaction from the PPP leaders.

Now in continuation of the spat, Cynthia posted an old picture of Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who is currently serving as adviser to CM Sindh, in which he can be seen with a cabaret dancer somewhere at a bar. She derided the Senator by captioning the picture “Murtaza Wahab is busy in the development of Sindh.”

The reply from PPP activists and leader is imminent, however, till filing of this story on the noon of June 3, no reaction from any party leader or known activist was seen.

Recently, Ritchie made the comment on a tweet discussing the recent violent confrontation between model Uzma Khan and a woman named Amna Usman, who accused the model of having a relationship with her husband of 13 years and used this allegation to justify her violent treatment of the model.

PPP Islamabad President Advocate Shakeel Abbasi filed the application on Thursday against Ritchie for posting on Twitter “very derogatory and slanderous remarks” about Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari’s marital life.

Ritchie’s tweet garnered a strong reaction from PPP leaders and supporters, with Sherry Rehman saying: “Attributing such filth to a champion for women’s rights, a martyred prime minister degrades the writer of this bot-handle more than anything else.”

The application has called for immediate action against Ritchie for her “untrue and false” remarks.

“Your office is requested to take immediate action and initiate proceedings against this woman as prescribed by the law and under your mandate.”
