A number of speakers at a seminar held in Karachi stated that Pakistanis donate Rs 554 billion in charities every year.
Addressing a seminar on safe charities organized by Pakistan Peace Collective, National Counter Terrorism Authority, Social Welfare Department, the speakers said that Pakistanis donate Rs. 554 billion to charities every year while 26% of Pakistanis do not know that their charities Where the money is being used.
District Project Coordinator Pakistan Peace Collective Rana Asif Habib said that implementation of laws is essential for proper use of charitable funds. He said that the practice of spreading hate speech and content should also end.
Abu Bakar, Additional Secretary, Social Welfare Department, said that under the Sindh Charity Commission, charities have been banned from using the money properly.
