The federal government has decided to introduce a new helpline number for immediate assistance to citizens in case of any emergency.
According to the helpline number consists of 4 digits, the number of main control room must contact the extensions to any case will get assistance from affected citizens concerned. The helpline number will be linked to all federal, provincial agencies, police, law enforcement, hospitals, rescue and relief agencies and other emergency providers.
According to reports, the helpline will be set up by the Ministry of Information Technology, which will be fully developed by IT and telecom experts at the national level.
The main desk of this helpline will be in Islamabad while its desk will be set up in every district.
According to the official, an automated system will be set up to enable the helpline to liaise with other agencies and enable calls for help. A high-level committee will be set up to oversee the federal helpline, which will include representatives from the federal, provincial and other agencies. The Ministry of IT has started work on the preparation of the said helpline. It is likely that an experimental helpline number will be introduced in major cities of the country in the next four months and if successful, its scope will be gradually extended across the country.

Federal Minister for Information Technology Aminul Haq said that the scope of the helpline number will be extended across the country in phases, any person in case of any emergency will get help immediately after providing the relevant information.
The Federal Minister said that this helpline would be helpful in case of fire, transport of patient to hospital, security matters, prevention of crime, rescue and relief and other matters. In case of connecting this helpline, Central Control Room desk of the concerned district will be contacted from where help will be provided in case of emergency by contacting the recipient immediately.
