The US first lady, Melania Trump, celebrated her 50th birthday in the White House amid a lockdown caused by coronavirus outbreak.
The first lady spent her birthday with family at the nation’s capital on Sunday, White House chief of staff Stephanie Grisham told Fox News. Donald Trump tweeted a Happy Birthday message to his wife on Sunday, writing: ‘Happy Birthday to Melania, our great First Lady!’
The official White House Twitter account also tweeted a congratulatory message to the First Lady with pictures of her travels in her initiatives to support young girls and women in the military, reported MetroUK.
Ms Trump was born on April 26, 1970 in the former Yugoslavia, which is now Slovenia. She married Donald Trump in 2005 after moving to the US in 1996 for her modeling career.
A year after they married, the Trumps had their son, Barren.
She later told Parenting that she considered looking after her teenage son to be her ‘first job.’ In her time as the first lady, Melania championed her ‘Be Best’ campaign aimed, at the American youth, to fight cyberbullying and drug use.
Since the lockdown began, Melania has remained largely out of the public eye, although she has been active on social media platforms to address the nation and encourage Americans to follow stay-at-home orders.
