Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar has been appointed focal person to media for English media for Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan.
Mehr Tarar is quite known on social media, especially twitter, for her outright praise for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and sitting Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Here’s the appointment letter:
According to HT report, Mehr Tarar is a graduate of West Virginia University. She is a 45-year-old Lahore-based journalist and a mother of a 13 year old boy. She is reported to be separated from her husband, a rich businessman based out of Bahrain. She used to work with a Pakistani daily, but quit recently.
She made headlines outside Pakistan after her alleged screenshots of chat with then Indian Minister Shashi Tharoor surfaced on the social media. A few days later, Tharoor’s wife Sunanda passed away.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 a series of curious tweets appeared from Shashi Tharoor’s account which has over 2 million followers. The tweets appeared to be direct messages from Mehr Tarar expressing her love for Tharoor.
After the tweets appeared on Tharoor’s timeline, Tarar, whose Twitter bio describes her as a mom and a Pakistani columnist, tweeted this:
The incriminating tweets were soon deleted, and Tharoor claimed his account had been hacked.
However, Pushkar told the Economic Times that she had posted the tweets from Tharoor’s account and that the accounts were not hacked. She also accused Tarar of being a Pakistani spy.
Pushkar claimed that she and Tharoor were “very happy together.” She also referred to “vultures” pouncing on him during her time away for treatment of an illness.
