Is your search history really being deleted? Here’s what you need to know

Did you know that Google may still have your browsing data even after you delete your search history?

Many people search for sensitive information on Google that they are unable to ask publicly and then delete their history from the browser.

However, this may not be enough to completely erase your data from Google’s servers.

To delete your browsing data permanently, you need to take an extra step that most people don’t know about. Simply deleting your history from the browser may not remove all the data associated with your account.

To permanently delete your search history, follow these steps:

Click on your profile picture on the top right corner of your Chrome browser next to the search bar.

Select “Manage your Google Account” from the dropdown menu.

Type “My Activity” in the search bar on that page where “Search Google Account” is written.

Click on “My Activity” to view your search history.

To delete your search history, click on the “Delete” button. You can also choose to delete your history for a specific time period.

Google will present you with a list of services that your history is associated with, including YouTube. Select the services that you want to delete your history from.

Confirm the deletion process.

Keep in mind that while this process deletes your search history, Google may still retain other data associated with your account to improve its services. For example, Google may keep information about how often you search for things, but not what you searched for, even after you delete your search history. To fully delete this data, you need to delete your Google account.

In addition, the “My Activity” button can be used to change your location history, after which Google may suggest personalized data. This feature is only available for users aged 18 and above.

Remember to take the necessary steps to protect your privacy while browsing the web.
