Indian woman, arrest, Amandeep Kaur

Indian woman arrested for ‘marrying four men’ for money

A woman in India was arrested on charges of marrying four men without divorcing them. It was part of a scheme where she married them for money.

Five associates, including family members, were also arrested for their roles in the fraud, said a report.

It was reported that the woman, a resident of Moga, Punjab, used to demand millions of rupees from her husbands by blackmailing them.

Once she married them, she would threaten to file false cases of rape and harassment against them if they did not hand her some money.

The woman was identified as Amandeep Kaur, also known as Rajinder Kaur.

Kaur’s crimes came to light when her fourth husband, Kamaljit Singh, filed a police complaint against her.

Kaur had filed a dowry harassment case against Kamaljit in 2016, which is currently under trial in the court. She had demanded Rs. 10 Lakh (£10,600) but he refused, which led to the false case being registered.

ASI Gurdev Singh explained that the complainant registered a statement on December 5, 2019.

In his statement, Kamaljit revealed his ordeal and said that shortly after his marriage to Amandeep in 2016, he found out that she was married to three others.

It was discovered that Kaur first married Sarbjit Singh and had a 10-year-old son with him.
