Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy may help elderly regain their youth, say scientists

Israeli scientists have discovered after experiments on 35 elderly volunteers that if they spend some time daily in a pure oxygen environment, they can regain their youth.

It should be noted that pure oxygen therapy is called “Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy” (HBOT).

This method is 100 years old in which pure oxygen gas is filled inside a special chamber. Gas pressure is kept two and a half times higher than normal air pressure.

The treated person is kept in a pure oxygen environment for a minimum of 3 minutes to a maximum of 120 minutes (two hours).

Oxygen sufferers say they feel younger and healthier than before.

Rumors have been circulating that the famous singer Michael Jackson had a permanent arrangement of “HBOT” at his residence and he used to spend some time daily in his “Oxygen Chamber”.

But does pure oxygen really do any good, or is it nothing more than an illusion? To find out, Israeli scientists decided to study the effects of oxygen therapy on the cells of the elderly.

The study volunteers were 64 years of age or older and underwent daily oxygen therapy for 60 days.

Although the report, published online in the latest issue of the research journal “Aging” , did not say how long each volunteer was exposed to high-pressure oxygen per day, it is clear that research Before starting, a “complete blood” sample of each volunteer was obtained. (“Complete blood” includes all the components found in the blood, except for the red and white cells.)

No seniors were asked to change their routine during the study. During this time, on the 30th day, the 60th day, and again, one to two weeks after the end of oxygen therapy, complete blood samples were taken from these volunteers.

After a detailed study of different blood cells before and after oxygen therapy, the experts found that the number of “old cells” in them had decreased, while the different types of “white blood cells” found in the blood. White blood cells) had increased the length of telomeres.

Explain that “telomeres” cells have molecules like oblong lids on the edges of chromosomes. Each time a cell divides, the length of these telomeres decreases slightly.

As we age, the length of the telomeres decreases, and eventually there is a time when the cell is no longer able to divide. In this case, the cells either die very quickly or they somehow keep themselves alive and take the form of “old cells”.

That is, in this study, the reduction in the number of volunteer aging cells and the increase in the length of telomeres were two special factors that prove that “treatment” through pure oxygen actually returns a person to youth.
