The federal cabinet has recently also abolished the 45% regulatory duty on the import of pine nuts (chilgoza) from Afghanistan.
The decision will help reduce pine nut price, which at the moment stands at Rs6,000 per kilogram. But there is no official confirmation whether the prices have really been reduced of a dry fruit that is almost out of buying range of majority of people in the country.
The announcement regarding the abolishment of import duty was made by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry some 10 days ago.
