Court stops immediate deportation of US blogger Cynthia

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to stop immediate deporting of US citizen and blogger Cynthia D. Ritchie, as earlier ordered by Interior Ministry.

The IHC issued notices to the Interior Ministry, DG FIA and other parties seeking a response to the deportation.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah has issued orders to stop the immediate deportation of US citizen Cynthia.

Earlier, the Interior Ministry had ordered Cynthia de Richie to leave the country in 15 days, after which the Interior Ministry had also rejected Cynthia Richie’s request for an extension of her visa.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that Cynthia de Richie should inform all the allegations in writing till the next hearing, we will ensure that the petitioner gets full justice.

Cynthia Ritchie said in her application that despite providing relevant documents, the visa extension application was rejected, while the Home Ministry told the High Court that it was neither involved in anti-state nor illegal activities.
