Indian actress Zareen Khan is facing an arrest warrant in a long-standing ‘cheating’ case that dates back to 2018.
The Kolkata court recently issued the warrant after Khan’s repeated non-appearance at her scheduled hearings. The case originates from her alleged failure to perform at a Durga Puja event in Kolkata in 2018, leading to accusations of cheating by the event organizers.
Khan has responded with surprise and plans to consult her legal counsel for clarification. She contends that she had been misled by the event organizers about the nature and attendees of the event.
Khan had initially filed a case against the event organizers, adding complexity to the legal proceedings. Despite legal protection from the Calcutta High Court and ongoing legal maneuvers, the arrest warrant was issued due to her absence from court hearings.
Her attorney, Rizwan Siddiquee, has emphasized that the warrant seems to be a result of misinformation, and Khan has previously received legal protection from the High Court of Calcutta regarding this case. The case revolves around her non-appearance at the 2018 event.
